Katsuhiko SHIRAI, he is a Professor of Electrical Engineering.

He was assumed the post of President of Waseda University in November 2002. He was Awarded the 56th NHK Broadcast Cultural Award, Japan Broadcasting Association (July, 2005) and the Grande Ufficiale OSSI-Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta' Italiana (July, 2007)
