Earth Break Main Campus Ceremony
On Tuesday February14th, 2017, E-JUST celebrated the construction of its main campus by holding the Japanese Tradition Earth Break ceremony.
Guests arrived to the “Research Laboratories Building” where the ceremony started with a welcome speech from Prof. Ahmed Al-Gohary, E-JUST President. Ambassador Takehiru KAGAWA – Japanese Ambassador in Egypt elaborated in his speech about the distinctive development and progress of E-JUST. Isozaki, Aoki and Associates (IAA) representative, the Japanese architectural Consultant Office presented after that the campus design concept presentation and video. The guests of honor included Major Dr. Reda Farahat – Alexandria Governor and Prof. Essam Khamis – Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, finally, Prof Essam Elkordy, the president of Alexandria University and the former Board of Trustees member gave a speech elaborating the importance of E-JUST to the sector of higher education in Egypt. Both Egyptian and Japanese Press officials were present to report the important progress to this unique Egyptian and Japanese Partnership that is E-JUST.
Afterwards, a traditional Japanese tree planting ceremony took place. Moving on, the visitors inspected the construction work on the campus site. The main campus is constructed on an area of 200 feddans and the estimated construction cost of the first phase is more than one billion Egyptian pounds. The guests then moved to the Secondary Campus; for the inauguration of the new South Buildings and visited the facilities. The new dormitory accommodates 400 students and a guesthouse for 84 guests. The secondary campus also includes the new administration building as well as the students’ activities center.
Finally, the guests joined the opening the inauguration of Elaraby library, donated by Elaraby group to E-JUST.
