Qualifications and skills requirements:
• Ph.D Degree in Geotechnical Engineering
• Excellent communication skills (English): verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentations
• Strong technical background in geotechnical and civil engineering with knowledge of design and construction.
• A minimum of 10 years as Geotechnical Lead on large Civil Infrastructure projects;
• Proven business development skills to generate services on civil/geotechnical projects and to take on new clients;
• Experience with complex geotechnical investigations;
• Competent understanding of project/program management fundamentals and have a firm understanding of the relationship between technical delivery, project scope, costs, and schedule;
• Strong problem-solving skills;
• Advanced computer analysis experience;
• Registered Professional Engineer and membership of professional bodies related to geotechnical engineering.
Job Summary:
• Develop a strategy and implement plans to achieve the center goals which correspond to the University mission, vision, values and goals.
• Supervise, review, guide, coach and mentor staff under your supervision and provide Technical Leadership for civil projects
• Establish business development strategies directed at obtaining project work and developing new client relationships.
• Participate in management meetings.
• Assist in the recruitment of high caliber engineers and scientists.
• Oversee and complete staff performance appraisals and salary reviews.
• Set the groundwork to help position the center to move forward, grow and remain secure and profitable.
• Monitor and report on staff utilization and ensure targets are met.
• Identify and obtain budgetary approval for major capital and expenditures required by the center.
• Establish annual financial budgets for the center for review by the University President.
• Conduct regular review of the financial status of the center with respect to achieving budget targets.
• Participate in and perform other technical and administrative tasks as required from time to time.
• Participate in conferences, seminars, interact with the media, public, and represent the University in social, community, and business situations.
• Complete work in line with the University Core Values and in accordance with its Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
• Participate in teaching and academic works.
