E-JUST President Participation in TICAD 7 Conference

Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) President Prof. Ahmed Al-Gohary participated in Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7). He presented an international symposium on the sidelines of the conference entitled: “Human Resources Development Promoting Science, Technology and Innovation among Universities in Africa”.

Besides, Prof. Al-Gohary pointed out the need to strengthen cooperation ties between universities in the field of scientific research. For instance, through delegating Academic Professors to contribute in educational and research process among different universities. In addition to the delegation of African students. Accordingly, achieving a sustainable plan for the African continent development through promotion of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Moreover, Prof. Ahmed Al-Gohary stated that an agreement is being signed for 150 MSc and PhD scholarships for African students. These grants are fully funded by the Japanese government represented by Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to study MSc and PhD degrees in E-JUST. Studies include the following Engineering fields; Faculty of Engineering departments are; Electronics and Communications, Computer Science, Electrical Power, Industrial and Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Chemical and Petrochemicals and Energy Resources Engineering fields as well as Institute of Basic and Applied Sciences.

It is noteworthy to mention that the number of African students studying at E-JUST reached 21. The African students are from seven different African countries, which are Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This comes under the auspices of President Abd El Fattah El Sisi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of TICAD 7. The conference is held in Yokohama, Japan. This is related to the strategic partnership between Japan and the African continent, especially cooperation with Egypt in several areas. Most notably, the development of Higher Education and Scientific Research sector. The President praised E-JUST project as one of the most important bilateral cooperation projects between the two countries. He expressed his appreciation for Japan’s continuous support for related projects to promotion of Education, Higher Education and scientific research in Egypt. President Al-Sisi is with high hopes to further strengthen these cooperation ties. This shall take place through the dissemination of the Japanese education experience in Egypt and increase the number of granted scholarships for Egyptian students to Japan.

Furthermore, E-JUST was established with huge Egyptian investments, in cooperation with the Japanese side. The target is providing high level of education, through selective curricula, and focusing on the educational process practical aspects. The university is equipped with latest scientific devices and innovative curricula, which enables the researcher to keep pace with modern science and technology.

E-JUST is a public university of a special nature, established within the framework of fruitful cooperation between both Egyptian and Japanese governments. The University provided numerous scholarships for MSc and PhD students. It has cooperation ties with several Japanese universities. E-JUST welcomes Japanese professors for teaching purposes and delegates researchers to Japan for completing their studies. E-JUST also began admission for undergraduate studies since 2017 to study the latest science in Faculties of Engineering and Business Administration. Thus, serving scientific research that drives the economy and national production, and is the cornerstone renaissance of any nation’s development.
