On 26th March 2020 in Alexandria, with reference to what was raised through the social media about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases appearing at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology:
As it is E-JUST’s belief in the importance of transparency and clarity in facing the spread of the virus, we are obliged to say that one of our Japanese counterparts working at E-JUST was diagnosed with being infected with the virus after departing from the university on the 18th of March. The person is now undergoing treatment in Japan and his health condition is stable. The person visited E-JUST for only 4 days, from the 14th to the 18th of March 2020, then was summoned to return to Japan as part of the precautionary measures taken by the Government of Japan.
Prof. Ahmed El-Gohary – President of E-JUST – confirms that, based on the principle of transparency and concern for the safety of all, after receiving the news on the 24th of March 2020 the university immediately, informed all of its employees, whether academic or administrative, and its students, in addition to taking all precautionary measures necessary and recommended by the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
In this regard, on the same day, the university administration carried out a medical examination for all its employees, and the examination showed that there were no symptoms or cases.
