Members of the Board of Trustees of Ebhar Misr Foundation Visit Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology to Discuss Means of Cooperation in Supporting Talented People in the Fields of Science, Engineering, Technology, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)
Prof. Ahmed El-Gohary, President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), received the members of the Board of Trustees of Ebhar Misr Foundation and representatives of the Education First Initiative, Eng. Assem Ragab – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Agricole Bank and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ebhar Misr, Prof. Hani Helal – Former Minister of Higher Education and member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Salma El-Bakry – Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Education First Foundation, the international artist and ophthalmologist Prof. Farid Fadel, member of the Board of Trustees of Ebhar Misr, Ms. Mirna Arif – Executive Director of Microsoft Egypt and a member of the Board of Trustees of Ebhar Misr Foundation, with the aim of discussing means of collaboration between the university and Ebhar Misr Foundation. The Foundation aims to discover and nurture talented people in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics – STEAM) and those who have ideas and scientific projects aimed at serving the community.
Dr. Salma El-Bakry stated that the “Ebhar Misr” program includes a number of different activities and events that aim to discover talented students and youth, led by the “Ebhar Misr” camp for school students, which seeks every year to adopt 25 talents from all over Egypt and is held for the fourth year in a row.
For his part, Eng. Assem Ragab said that the Credit Agricole Foundation was established to serve the poor segment of society and support sustainable development through its projects, alleviating the suffering of the poor and promoting their interests, as well as raising awareness that leads to positive long-term results. The Foundation focuses on four main axes to enter into projects of a sustainable nature, namely education, health, agriculture and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Ahmed El-Gohary, President of the University, stated that means of cooperation were discussed through providing scholarships for talented and distinguished students to study in undergraduate programs at E-JUST, whether in the Faculty of Engineering or the Faculty of International Business and Humanities or the Computer Science programs, in addition to supporting and adopting the ideas of talented students through the University’s business incubators.
It is noteworthy to mention that they agreed on important axes to implement the areas of cooperation that were discussed to support young creators, young innovators and talented people in various arts, including how to provide due care to preserve and develop their talents. They agreed to push towards the development of collective awareness on the importance of nurturing young talents in all fields; in addition to harnessing the university’s research capabilities to motivate school students at the secondary and preparatory levels to join the fields of science and technology to devote creativity in all nationally need areas.
