About the program

The graduate program in accounting and information systems is an intensive multidisciplinary program that is unique among Egyptian Universities. The program is designed for those who are pursuing an academic career as faculty members and professionals who intend to enhance their careers in accounting and information systems. It involves a comprehensive study of interdisciplinary methods, theories, and research in the areas of accounting and information systems, and choices of various electives covering a wide range of related subjects.

Programs Offered

E-JUST offers two graduate programs in accounting and information systems:

  1. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in AIS,
  2. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in AIS.

Students who aspire to doctoral study in accounting and information systems but need to strengthen their background may wish to consider our M.Sc., which admits both part-time and full-time students. Students in this program take many of the same courses as our doctoral students and may use these courses towards their doctoral degree if they are later admitted to the doctoral program.

Admission Requirements
Age

Applicants should be under 30 years on Feb. 1, 2020 (for MoHE Scholarships).

English language proficiency

A student, whose native language is not English, are required to provide an official evidence of English language proficiency. A minimum score of 79 in the TOEFL IBT; or 6.5 in the Academic IELTS test is required for admission.

Educational background

For M.Sc. Applicant:
A student should hold a bachelor degree or equivalent in accounting and/or information systems with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 or or an equivalent cumulative percentage of at least 75%. from an Egyptian university or any other academic institution (in Egypt or abroad) recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) in Egypt.

For PhD Applicant:
A student should the student must have a bachelor degree in accounting and/or information systems and a M.Sc. degree in accounting and/or information systems from an Egyptian university or any other academic institution (in Egypt or abroad) recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) in Egypt.

Duration of study

For M.Sc. Applicant:
Students should complete their master’s degree in 2 years as a minimum.
For PhD Applicant:
Students should complete their Ph.D. degree in 3 years as a minimum.

Admission Exams:

The General/Subject exam will focus on the basics and recent trends in accounting in general and on the basics and recent trends in the specialized accounting area (accounting information systems, management accounting, financial accounting, auditing) and will examine the applicant’s awareness of those basics and trends.

A Student should pass successfully all entrance examinations and interviews before admission to the program.

For M.Sc. Applicant:

1)General accounting written exam: (30% of total grade).
will cover the basics of accounting in general (one Hour)

2)Specialized accounting written exam: (30% of total grade)
will cover the area of specialization (one hour).

3)Interview: (40% of total grade)
will focus on the applicant’s communication and presentation skills in addition to his/her knowledge in the area of specialization and research ability.

The applicant will give a presentation for 15 minutes using PPT for his/her research proposal.

The applicant minimum acceptance percentage in each part (General written exam, specialized accounting written exam and interview) is 50% & 60% of the total evaluation (Written Exams + Interview).
 

For PhD Applicant:

 

1)General accounting written exam (25% of total grade)
will cover the basics of accounting in general) (one hour).

2)Specialized accounting written exam (25% of total grade)
will cover the area of specialization (one hour).

3) Interview (50% of total grade)
will focus on the applicant’s communication and presentation skills in addition to his/her knowledge in the area of specialization and research ability.

The applicant will give a presentation for 15 minutes using PPT for his/her research proposal.

The applicant minimum acceptance percentage in each part (General written exam, specialized accounting written exam and interview) is 50% & 60% of the total evaluation (Written Exams + Interview).

Based on the student’s credentials and performance in the admission test and interview the admission committee might require the student to take some deficiency courses that should be taken before starting the program.
