Abdel-Sadek El-Shorbagy, Chairman of the National Press Authority, received Prof. Amr Adly, President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, in the presence of journalist Abdel-Razek Tawfiq, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Gomhouria newspaper, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two sides in the field of training on digital transformation and Information Technology, benefiting from the Japanese experience and technology of the University in supporting electronic platforms, maintaining presses in national newspapers affiliated with the authority, launching fairs, opening libraries, and initiating fields of journalism, printing and advertising. At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the National Press Authority welcomed President of the Egypt-Japan University, and praised the technological progress and the Japanese expertise of the university, which was established in partnership between Egyptian and Japanese governments. The head of the Authority confirmed that Egyptian universities are living their golden age during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as there is an unprecedented jump in the number of public, private, technological and national universities, explaining that Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology is the first to bear the name of Japan outside its borders and apply the Japanese model in education and invest Japanese expertise in preparing a generation of qualified graduates who keep pace with the needs of the labor market in modern disciplines. Prof. Amr Adly expressed his pride in the collaboration between the University, the Authority and national press institutions emphasizing the vital role of the national press in spreading culture and raising awareness of the challenges facing the country and addressing rumors by publishing facts. He praised the unprecedented leap achieved by the Authority in developing and structuring national institutions and in launching sophisticated electronic platforms. He added that the University has a leading role in community service, referring to the focus of the University through its strategic plan to support the industry to increase the added national value in accordance with Egypt Vision 2030. Eng. Abdel Razek Tawfik stressed that the Egypt- Japan University of Science and Technology, as the first public research university, has become a pioneer in scientific research in Egypt and the Middle East, and places a priority on applied scientific research that supports Egypt Vision for sustainable development 2030 and the national industry, and is unique in providing academic programs and specializations and study programs in the latest sciences. Abdel Razek Tawfiq pointed out that the University provides an education with international standards that supports creativity and innovation among students, and praised the University’s excellence in the field of artificial intelligence and its production of the first smart robot with local components that competes with the importer and is characterized by efficiency.
