On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) held its first graduation ceremony for students from the graduate programs, covering the batches from 2019 to 2024, and undergraduate students from 2021 to 2024 from the Faculties of Engineering, International Business Administration, and Humanities. The ceremony took place at the university's campus in New Borg El Arab City and was attended by notable figures, including Prof. Hany Helal, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of E-JUST, along with Prof. Amr Adly, the university's President. Also present were Prof. HASHIMOTO Shuji, First Vice President of Regional and International Affairs, and Prof. Sameh Nada, Vice President of Education & Academic Affairs. The ceremony was further graced by the presence of Japan's Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Oka Hiroshi, African ambassadors in Cairo, and officials from JICA. Several Egyptian university presidents, members of the Parliament's Education and Scientific Research Committee, senior officials from Alexandria Governorate, and a large group of students' parents also attended the celebration. In his address, Prof. Hany Helal congratulated the graduates and their families, highlighting the remarkable development of the university over the past 20 years. He reflected on how the land that now houses the university was once barren desert and how, with the support of the Egyptian government, particularly President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the project came to fruition. Prof. Helal also acknowledged the efforts of Ambassador Fayza Aboul Naga, former Minister of International Cooperation and previous Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Ahmed El-Gohary, the former university president, and the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, whose support played a pivotal role in building the university. Prof. Amr Adly, the university’s President, also congratulated the graduates, emphasizing that the university is proud of their achievements and that they are now equipped to excel locally, regionally, and globally. He noted that E-JUST offers a world-class education supported by the governments of Egypt and Japan, utilizing state-of-the-art labs and technology centers provided by JICA, as well as a distinguished academic staff who are dedicated to honing the students' scientific and practical capabilities. In his speech, Prof. HASHIMOTO Shuji, First Vice President of Regional and International Affairs, praised the graduates and emphasized the importance of collaboration between Egypt and Japan in fostering education and innovation. He reiterated the university’s mission to nurture students who can lead in a global context and bridge cultural and educational gaps. Prof. Sameh Nada, Vice President of Education & Academic Affairs, also delivered a speech, underscoring E-JUST's commitment to the Japanese education model, which focuses on academic excellence, skill development, and character building. He noted that E-JUST graduates are highly competitive in both local and international job markets, with several having received scholarships to pursue further studies at prestigious global universities, while others are working at prominent institutions across the US, Canada, Japan, and Europe. The event concluded with the honoring of the top graduates and a special musical performance by the university's student choir, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere shared by students and their families.
