The Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) had the privilege of hosting the “AI Empower Egypt: Hack for Impact” event organized by Dell Technologies on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. This event, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, brought together industry experts, academics, and students to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing Egypt’s technological landscape. The event focused on practical AI applications across various fields, shedding light on how AI is shaping the future of Egypt’s key sectors. Throughout the event, Dell Technologies experts presented a range of cutting-edge AI developments and their practical implications. The discussions highlighted how AI is being applied in five major areas: smart transportation systems aimed at creating safer cities, the strategic use of AI to drive economic growth, AI’s revolutionary role in healthcare, the enhancement of government services through AI, and the use of AI in agriculture to manage plant diseases and improve productivity. These applications underscored the significant role AI is playing in transforming multiple industries, with a particular focus on its potential to drive innovation and economic growth in Egypt. The event served as a platform for engaging E-JUST’s students, especially fourth-year students from the Faculties of Engineering, Computer Science & Information Technology (CSIT), and International Business & Humanities (FIBH). Students were encouraged to explore AI’s real-world applications by participating in projects, startups, and hands-on initiatives. Dell Technologies provided valuable insights into how AI can be integrated into graduation projects and entrepreneurial ventures, offering students a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of technological innovation. In addition to the presentations, the event featured interactive sessions, where students and academics engaged in discussions with Dell experts. The agenda included an in-depth program overview, followed by a series of talks on the objectives and deliverables of the AI Empower Egypt initiative. A detailed exploration of real-world AI use cases was presented, allowing attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the next steps in AI integration and the various opportunities available for collaboration and innovation. This event was a remarkable opportunity for students to gain exposure to the rapidly evolving world of AI, while also strengthening the university’s ties with leading technology companies. It reflects E-JUST’s ongoing commitment to fostering a learning environment that promotes technological advancement and prepares students to contribute to Egypt’s growing digital economy.
