In early October 2024, the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) held its annual Industry Day (E-JUST Connect), aimed at introducing the industrial community to the range of services the university offers. These services include engineering consultations, research and development, testing and analysis, as well as specialized training programs. Prof. Amr Adly, President of E-JUST, highlighted the university’s pivotal role in supporting industry and introduced the university’s Industry Support Group, established in line with E-JUST’s strategic plan and Egypt's Vision 2030 for economic growth and sustainable development. Three companies shared their success stories with E-JUST. Mr. Mohamed Abdel Gawad El-Araby, Head of Manufacturing Operations at El-Araby Group, discussed the long-standing collaboration with the university, particularly in using simulation to redesign production processes and improve efficiency in their new factory. A representative from Ezz Steel outlined the company’s cooperation with E-JUST in areas such as the metals and materials forming program, with the company providing scholarships and hiring E-JUST graduates due to their unique qualifications. The collaboration also extends to joint research and development efforts. The Egyptian Composite Materials Company presented multiple areas of collaboration, including redesigning manhole covers using computer-aided design to enhance strength and efficiency, optimizing production processes, and replacing synthetic fibers with natural ones to create more sustainable products. The event saw the participation of 119 attendees from 60 companies across various industrial sectors, including food, petrochemicals, engineering, beauty, plastics, and cleaning products, as well as members from the Alexandria Business Association. E-JUST offers robust industrial support capabilities, including outstanding researchers, a high international ranking, state-of-the-art laboratories, a Center for Innovative Technology (CINTECH) focused on technology development, a Technology Management Department (TMD) that prepares professionals for technology management roles, an Industrial Training Unit (ITU) that provides practical training and hands-on experience, and an incubator that supports startups with resources and mentorship.
