A cooperation agreement was signed between the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). The agreement was signed by Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and Prof. Amr Adly, President of E-JUST. The signing ceremony was attended by Ms. Sachiko Imoto, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Dr. Jin Kato, Head of JICA’s Cairo Office, as well as senior representatives from JICA headquarters in Japan and Cairo. Also present were leaders from the Grand Egyptian Museum and Egyptian and Japanese faculty members involved in E-JUST’s Heritage Science Program. The agreement focuses on collaboration in heritage management and conservation, leveraging advanced technology and Japanese expertise. It also includes training programs for GEM staff and postgraduate students enrolled in E-JUST’s heritage conservation programs, developed through a partnership between Egyptian and Japanese experts. Future prospects for further collaboration between the museum and the university were also discussed. After the ceremony, representatives from JICA and E-JUST, at the invitation of Prof. Ahmed Ghoneim, toured the Grand Egyptian Museum. The attendees expressed their pride in this iconic institution, which symbolizes the strong collaboration between the governments of Egypt and Japan, reflecting the fruitful partnership between E-JUST and GEM.
