Officially ... Prof. Amr Adly Appointed as the New President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)

The Board of Trustees of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology in Alexandria, headed by H.E. Ambassador Fayza Abou el-Naga, Advisor to the President of the Republic for National Security and former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and all members of the Board from the Egyptian and Japanese sides, decided to appoint Prof. Amr Adly as President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST) for a period of 4 years, starting this July. The University’s Board of Trustees represents the authority to appoint the university president in accordance with the bilateral agreement between the Egyptian and Japanese sides. Prof. Amr Adly held many high-level local and international leadership positions, as he served as Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for University Affairs in 2018, and Vice President of Cairo University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research in 2016, and he also held the position of Executive Director of the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) in 2014. Internationally, he worked as a consultant to the European Union Commission as one of 2 experts who developed the research, technology and innovation funding program (RDI) in Egypt with a funding of €11 million, and as a consultant for the Basic and Engineering Sciences Program at the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo. On the scientific level, Prof. Amr Adly has a biography rich in international publishing and international scientific activities, where he was chosen this year as chief editor of one of the largest and most prestigious international scientific journals specialized in magnetic sciences and applications IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. He has many publications in scientific research, reaching 136 publications; most of which are published in international journals. Prof. Adly has received many local and international awards and honors, for his distinguished record in international publishing and managing national systems in financing research and linking scientific research with industrial and technological requirements. He was awarded the Medal of Science and Arts of the first class by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Egypt in 2017. Also, he was awarded the State Appreciation Award in Engineering Sciences for the year 2016, and the Distinguished Graduate Award from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Maryland, USA, which is an award given every year to three graduates of the department during a ceremony at the university’s headquarters. He also attained the State Award for Scientific Excellence in Engineering Sciences for the year 2006.
