Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) is a research university with an ambition to cultivate an academic environment and become a benchmark for Egyptian and African countries in education.
It was first established as a bilateral agreement project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments in May 2009 and later in 2010 it was ready to accept its first batch of students and make the dream a reality.
All decisions that govern the university are made through its Board of Trustees, composed of prominent figures from Egypt and Japan representing government, academia, and industry.
There is a strong relationship between both governments where they divide cooperation cohesively to ensure positive results.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) supports E-JUST by sending administrative and academic experts, while the Japanese Supporting University Consortium supports teaching, joint research, and co-supervision of graduate students.
The Egyptian government fully runs and financially supports the university through Egyptian academic and administrative staff.

E-JUST, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt and the Japanese Supporting University Consortium, prepared a program for Ph.D. students to have the opportunity to study and conduct their research in Japan with partner universities for a period of 6–9 months.
