The initial idea was a joint initiative from H.E. Ambassador Aboulnaga and the late Dr Sadako Ogata (High Commissioner UNCHR and JICA former president).
December 2002 - HE Ambassador Aboulnaga (Minister of State for Foreign Affairs) proposed the idea of E-JUST to H.E. Junichiro Koizumi the then the Prime Minister of Japan.
May 2003 - H.E. Junichiro Koizumi Japan’s Prime Minister visited Egypt & Saudi Arabia to strengthen the dialogue between Japan and the Arab world.
2005 - Initial proposal on cooperation in science and technology in terms of a joint university was triggered, and a feasibility study to establish a Japanese style University in Egypt was prepared and presented to the Japanese side.
April 2007 – first visit of the executive committee to establish E-JUST to Japan led by the late Professor Ahmed Abu Ismail (Abu Sensei)
March 2009 - Signing of the bilateral agreement to establish E-JUST.
Egypt government will sponsor land, infrastructure and buildings, and cost of Egyptian academic and administrative staff.
Japan government will cover equipment through a Grant Aid project and Japanese academic staff through JICA.
February 2010 - Start of Soft Opening phase with Engineering Graduate programs
September 2017 – Launch of Undergraduate programs
On Sept. 16th, 2020. HE president Abdel Fattah El-SISI opened E-JUST main campus. His excellency was accompanied by the PM and 14 ministers.
HE had a tour in E-JUST main campus and opened other universities virtually.
