The department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) is concerned with the design, manufacturing, analysis, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment, energy and money. Those systems include products, manufacturing processes, production systems, service systems, and government units and agencies.
The IME department offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The under graduate program includes two interconnected tracks in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering. The Industrial Engineering track concentrates on designing, installing, and improving procedures and systems for effective and efficient operation of enterprises in production, service and, government systems. The Manufacturing Engineering track involves the designing of products; the designing of processes to make high-quality, functional, and economical products; the utilization of advanced manufacturing technologies; and the developing of facilities for efficient production systems. The Industrial and Manufacturing engineers work closely together in designing, planning, and using state-of-the-art technologies in the production of the highest quality products while assuring a competitive level of productivity and competitive cost.
