Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, inaugurated today, via video conference, the 32nd Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST). During his remarks, he reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued support for E-JUST as a successful model of educational and research collaboration between Egypt and Japan, further strengthening its position as a leading institution in scientific research, innovation, and academic excellence.
The Minister expressed his appreciation to Hiroshima University for signing a Memorandum of Understanding and an Executive Agreement with E-JUST to launch a Dual Master’s Degree Program, which will contribute to enhancing academic cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two institutions.
Dr. Konsowa also emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting this distinguished academic institution and highlighted the importance of expanding international partnerships with leading global universities, citing the recent agreement with Hiroshima University as an exemplary model. He further called for exploring the establishment of an industrial zone within the university to facilitate the transformation of research outcomes into practical applications and industries with significant economic and developmental impact.
In addition, the Minister announced the agreement to establish a Center of Excellence for Semiconductor Manufacturing at E-JUST in collaboration with Hiroshima University, reinforcing Egypt’s efforts to advance high-tech industries and innovation-driven development.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hany Helal, Former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the E-JUST Board of Trustees, together with Ms. Yoko Matsui, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), at the university’s campus in Borg El Arab.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Adly, President of E-JUST; Mr. Yasuhiro Tsukamoto, Representative of the Embassy of Japan in Egypt; Dr. Shuji Hashimoto, Vice President for Regional and International Affairs; Dr. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, Vice President for Education and Academic Affairs; and Dr. Toshio Fukuda, Vice President for Research. Members of the Board of Trustees from both the Egyptian and Japanese sides, as well as deans of faculties and directors of research centers, also participated.
The Egyptian delegation included Eng. Mohamed El-Araby, Chief Operations Officer of El Araby Group; Dr. Ahmed El-Gohary, Founding President of E-JUST; Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University; Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF); and Ambassador Noha El-Gebaly, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Japanese delegation included Dr. Shinji Kaneko, Representative of Hiroshima University, and Dr. Shoji Shimizu, Representative of the President of Kyushu University.
