Qualifications and skills requirements:

Ph.D Degree in Geotechnical Engineering
Excellent communication skills (English): verbal, business writing, electronic communications and presentations
Strong technical background in geotechnical and civil engineering with knowledge of design and construction.
A minimum of 10 years as Geotechnical Lead on large Civil Infrastructure projects;
Proven business development skills to generate services on civil/geotechnical projects and to take on new clients;
Experience with complex geotechnical investigations;
Competent understanding of project/program management fundamentals and have a firm understanding of the relationship between technical delivery, project scope, costs, and schedule;
Strong problem-solving skills;
Advanced computer analysis experience;
Registered Professional Engineer and membership of professional bodies related to geotechnical engineering.

Job Summary:

Develop a strategy and implement plans to achieve the center goals which correspond to the University mission, vision, values and goals.
Supervise, review, guide, coach and mentor staff under your supervision and provide Technical Leadership for civil projects
Establish business development strategies directed at obtaining project work and developing new client relationships.
Participate in management meetings.
Assist in the recruitment of high caliber engineers and scientists.
Oversee and complete staff performance appraisals and salary reviews.
Set the groundwork to help position the center to move forward, grow and remain secure and profitable.
Monitor and report on staff utilization and ensure targets are met.
Identify and obtain budgetary approval for major capital and expenditures required by the center.
Establish annual financial budgets for the center for review by the University President.
Conduct regular review of the financial status of the center with respect to achieving budget targets.
Participate in and perform other technical and administrative tasks as required from time to time.
Participate in conferences, seminars, interact with the media, public, and represent the University in social, community, and business situations.
Complete work in line with the University Core Values and in accordance with its Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
Participate in teaching and academic works.
