E-JUST and Misr El Kheir Foundation Sign Cooperation Protocol to Support Deserving and Outstanding Students

As part of the Presidential Initiative for Human Development, and in support of the State’s efforts to invest in education as a fundamental pillar for shaping the future, the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and Misr El Kheir Foundation signed a cooperation protocol to support outstanding and deserving students.

The protocol aims to enable students to continue their educational journey without allowing economic challenges to stand in the way of their academic excellence. It also represents a successful model of integration between civil society organizations and academic institutions in preparing qualified cadres capable of leading development and innovation.

The protocol will support 20 deserving and academically outstanding students through scholarships in a number of scientific and technological fields, including engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence.

The protocol was signed by Prof. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Mohamed Refai, Chief Executive Officer of Misr El Kheir Foundation.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador Faiza Abou El Naga, Presidential Advisor for National Security and former Chairperson of E-JUST’s Board of Trustees; H.E. the Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt; Prof. Hany Helal, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of E-JUST’s Board of Trustees; Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, former Minister of Culture; Prof. Amr Adly, former President of E-JUST; and Dr. Walaa Hassan Fouad, Head of the Education Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation.

The ceremony was also attended by a number of university presidents and members of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Nehad Magdy, Senior Director of the Community Education and Scholarships Departments at Misr El Kheir Foundation, Mr. Walid Sultan, Director of the Scholarships Department at the Foundation, and representatives from both sides.

Prof. Hany Helal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, affirmed that this cooperation embodies an advanced model of integration between academic institutions and civil society organizations in supporting the education system and human development.

He noted that investing in outstanding students is a direct investment in Egypt’s future and enhances the country’s ability to compete and innovate across various fields.

Prof. Helal added that, since its establishment, E-JUST has been committed to presenting an advanced educational and research model inspired by the Japanese experience, based on quality, discipline, scientific research, and linking knowledge to practical application. He emphasized that supporting deserving students opens wider horizons for creativity and enables them to contribute effectively to society.

For his part, Prof. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, expressed his pride in the partnership with Misr El Kheir Foundation, praising its national role in supporting the education sector.

He affirmed that the protocol represents an important step toward reinforcing the principle of equal opportunities and empowering outstanding and deserving students to continue their studies within an advanced academic and research environment.

Prof. El-Sabbagh explained that the university’s mission is not limited to providing high-quality education, but also extends to creating an integrated learning environment that develops students’ research, innovation, and personal skills. This aligns with the university’s vision to prepare generations capable of meeting future demands and contributing to sustainable development.

In the same context, Dr. Mohamed Refai, Chief Executive Officer of Misr El Kheir Foundation, stated that the selection of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology reflects appreciation of the university’s distinguished academic standards and its educational approach inspired by the Japanese model, which is based on scientific research and innovation.

He stressed that, through this cooperation, the Foundation aims to ensure that students are able to continue their educational journey without being affected by economic challenges.

Dr. Refai also announced that Misr El Kheir Foundation is studying the possibility of providing additional scholarships to E-JUST students in the coming period, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to investing in people as a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and building the New Republic.

Dr. Walaa Hassan Fouad, Head of the Education Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation, affirmed that the support covers a number of vital specializations, particularly engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence.

She noted that the protocol comes within the framework of the Foundation’s strategy to reduce the financial burden on students and to establish an effective model of community partnership with leading educational institutions.

She added that, in addition to providing scholarships, the Foundation works to build strategic partnerships with major universities and educational institutions to ensure that support reaches those who deserve it, while empowering young talents and promising cadres to lead innovation and development pathways in Egypt in the coming years.
